Contract between DLR and Dauphin HumanDesign® Group a complete success

Offenhausen – May 2012. The DLR is active in a wide variety of fields. These include interdisciplinary science and research into aviation, space travel, traffic, energy and safety, technology marketing and promoting market-relevant competencies in these areas.

With 15 sites in Germany, the internationally renowned institute runs top-level research establishments and large-scale testing facilities for systems including wind tunnels, drive-system and material test beds, high-flow-density solar furnaces and combustion chambers. The DLR also focuses on traffic management, solar research, aerospace medicine, space travel management, space experiments and much more. Prof. Johann-Dietrich Wörner, chairman of the DLR’s executive board, summed up its wide-ranging activities as follows: “Evolutionary developments in technology require continuity, while revolutionary developments in technology require freedom. Following this motto, the 6,800 people who currently work for the DLR carry out research focusing on society’s problems and challenges.”

In addition to freedom as regards research and development, the DLR’s staff enjoy freedom when it comes to choosing their furniture too. Some time ago, the Dauphin HumanDesign® Group concluded a four-year contract with the DLR relating to the entire Bosse, Dauphin, Trendoffice and Züco product portfolio. On the basis of the contract, the management at the DLR come up with a shortlist of preferred items of furniture for the individual sites. Each employee then chooses a suitable office swivel chair and is given specific training as to how to set and use the chair correctly. The ergonomics experts from the Dauphin Group also offer assistance with the “Ergolab” at the DLR’s regular health days.

PRACTICAL, CLASSIC, ELEGANT

Nowhere is the need for practical, classic and elegant seating as clearly evident as at the recently renovated and extended casino at the Cologne site. As far as the new canteen seating is concerned, the DLR was looking for furniture which would fit in well with the architecture and intended overall look of the room but without being too conspicuous.

When fitting out the canteen, furniture in two different heights was chosen. DLR staff can sit and eat in comfort on cantilever chairs from the “Previo” range (Dauphin). As a dynamic alternative, they can either stand or sit on “Riposo” bar stools at the high “Reale” bistro tables (both from Züco). With their leather upholstery, the items of furniture from Züco have a very high-quality appearance. Consequently, a bistro setting can quickly turn into an impressive meeting place. The use of two different seat heights in combination with different seating products also ensures the desired variety in the large casino room and visually breaks down spatial barriers.
